Due to high level cleaning of the library entrance there will be no access to the building, for readers, until midday on Tuesday 5th July. Do not attempt to access the building until after this work has been completed and library staff have reopened the building.

The Betty & Gordon Moore Library offers a range of online support services and ways you can access our collections, to help you learn, teach and research.

(The book drop is emptied on a daily basis during the week and Saturday mornings - if some time has passed after you have returned the book and it still hasn't been cleared from your account - please contact the library.)

Returning books by hand

You can return Moore Library items to the drop box outside the Moore Library entrance on weekdays 08:00 - 18:00  and Saturdays 0800 - 1300 

This dropbox, along with one at the Medical Library, can also be used to return any STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Medical) subject library book loans. Books returned to these dropboxes may take a short while to be removed from your borrowing account.

We recommend using a tracked service.

If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar in the UK who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, you can request a pre-paid returns label to return your books by freepost. You can post items from the UL, Faculty and Department libraries and colleges using this service.

If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar outside the UK who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, we can send you instructions on how to request a refund for postage. You can post items from the UL, Faculty and Department libraries using this service.

The University Library team will be happy to accept all posted library books and will distribute them to their home library as soon as it is feasible to do so. Books you have returned may subsequently remain on your library account for some time after you have posted them. 

Individual parcels must not weigh more than 20kg and must not be larger than L 61cm x W 46cm x D46cm. Users can ask for more than one label if needed.

If you are a current member of staff or student whom is unable to return to Cambridge at the current time, please hold onto any loans you might have until such time as you are able to return in person. You will not be fined for any late returns as we are waiving all fines for the foreseeable future.
